Suji ka halwa is the everyday delicious North Indian sweet made with fine semolina (or the cream) composed of wheat (farina), sugar, ghee, and nuts and flavored with cardamom powder. Suji Halwa can also be called Rava Sheera and Rava Sheera from Western India and Rava Kesari in South India. The recipe is basically the same , but with some ingredients changing from one place to another.

Sooji Halwa Proportions

Sooji Halwa is typically made in bulk on festive or religious occasions. If you are planning to make a huge quantity and would like to make the most quantity there's a particular proportion you have to stick to.

The ratio of suji to water for Ghee can be described as 1:1:2:0.5 in the glass or cup amount. I slightly depart from the ratio and include a bit of ghee, but less sugar.

  • Sugar 1 cup sooji (or the rava) I would suggest adding 2/3 or 3/4 cups of sugar. This means that the suji Halwa isn't as sweet or sweet. A cup sugar has a sweet and sweet taste.

  • Ghee I add 2/3 cups of ghee for each teaspoon of suji. For me, 2/3 cup is a decent amount of ghee. Increase or lower the amount of ghee, based on the flavor you prefer.
  • water I have added 2.5 cups of water to one Cup of Suji. You could make 2 cups with water. The quantity of water can be increased based on how good the flavor of the rava, as well depending on the consistency of a pudding.
